Water from a roof leak
Wet insulation packs down, stops slowing heat and holds moisture against the wood. We want the leak fixed and the framing dry before anything new goes up there.
Old attic insulation soaked, moldy or full of droppings? We pull it out carefully so your attic can start over clean.

Insulation removal in Hesperia means our crew takes the old insulation out of your attic, so you can see the framing and whatever's been hiding under it, and so the gaps can be sealed before anything new goes in.
Most people call us about a hot room upstairs, a power bill that keeps climbing or a smell coming from the attic, and when I climb up, the old insulation has been ruined. Putting fresh insulation on top of it just covers the problem, so it has to come out first.
The price moves with the size of the attic and with what's up there, meaning what kind of insulation it is, how much and what shape it's in. The schedule turns on those same things plus how hard the attic is to move around in, so I look at it in person before I put any number on paper.
Before we pull anything, we figure out why it has to come out, whether that's a roof leak, mice or old smoke damage. If the cause is still there, new insulation goes bad the same way.
I'm the one who climbs up, looks at your attic and writes the estimate. Our own crew does the work, and I check it over before we leave your house.
We're licensed and fully insured, and we've been in business since 2013. If your insulation is fine and only needs a top-up, I'll tell you that instead of selling you a removal.
First I figure out why the old insulation has to go, because a leak or mice that are still active will ruin whatever we put in next. Sometimes the attic isn't the real problem, since cold floors can point to crawl space insulation and a hot bedroom can point to wall insulation, and I'll tell you which can wait. If any of the old material looks like vermiculite, we stop right there and point you to an asbestos abatement firm instead of touching it.
Droppings are the other thing we slow down for, and we find them in attics all over Hesperia, Victorville, Apple Valley, Phelan and the cities around them. The deer mouse lives in every county in California and is believed to be the main carrier of hantavirus, which people catch by breathing in dust from dried droppings and urine, exactly what old insulation can hold. San Bernardino County's health guidance is to wet the mess with household disinfectant or diluted bleach, wipe it up and double-bag it, because a broom or vacuum stirs that dust into the air, so we handle droppings carefully and take our time with that part.
Once the attic floor is bare, we seal the gaps around can lights, pipes, wiring and the hatch, because new insulation over an open gap just fights a draft. The new insulation then goes in even all the way to the edges and clear of the eave vents so the attic can still breathe. For most attics I'd pick sealing plus blown-in, which is loose fill sent up through a hose, since foam costs more and usually only earns its price when your ductwork runs through the attic.

Mold means moisture has been sitting in the attic, often from a leak or buried eave vents. The old material comes out so the cause can be dealt with and the wood can dry.
After a fire, insulation can hold soot and smoke smell long after the rooms below are cleaned. Taking it out also lets you see whether the framing above took damage.
Rodents tunnel through insulation and leave droppings and urine behind, which is a health problem and not just a smell. That material comes out the careful way described above, then the gaps they used get sealed.
Call or send the form and we'll reply within one business day to set a time. I'll come look at the attic myself and give you a free estimate on site, with no obligation.
A rough square footage, or just the size of the house, helps a lot. Attic size is one of the biggest things behind both the price and the time the job takes.
Tell us if it's batts, fluffy loose fill or something that looks like little pebbles. Pebble-like material could be vermiculite, and that changes who should be doing the job.
Mention leaks, mold, smoke smell, droppings or chewed spots. Knowing what's up there before I climb in tells me what to look for and how to plan the work.
Photos of cleared attic floors, sealed gaps and fresh loose fill give you something to point at when we talk through your own attic.
Plain answers to what Hesperia homeowners ask most about cost, timing, vermiculite and permits before old insulation comes out.
Removing old attic insulation across the US usually costs about $1 to $2 per square foot, and that's for the removal itself, not the new insulation. Where your job lands depends on the attic's size and on the type, amount and condition of what's up there, which is why I look at it in person before giving you a number.
Removing old attic insulation usually takes anywhere from 4 hours to 2 days or more, depending on how big the attic is and how complicated the job gets. A small, simple attic can be a short visit, while a large one with tight spots or damage takes longer, and I'll tell you what to plan for at the estimate.
Leave it undisturbed and treat it as if it contains asbestos. Vermiculite is a pour-in fill that looks like small pebbles, usually gray-brown or silver-gold. A trained professional can test it, though testing can be expensive and some methods give wrong results. If we see it on a job, we stop and point you to an abatement firm.
A trained, accredited asbestos abatement contractor should remove it, and that firm should be separate from whoever checked the insulation, so nobody profits from the answer. For 100 square feet or more of asbestos material, the state requires a contractor with the C-22 Asbestos Abatement classification, or one whose qualifier passed the state's asbestos certification exam.
The City of Hesperia requires a building permit before construction or remodeling work begins, and only the property owner, their licensed contractor or an authorized agent can get one. Whether your removal job counts is a question for the city's Permit Center. When a job does call for a permit, we handle the paperwork and set up the inspections.
We're open every day from 7 AM to 11 PM, so you can call while you're home and can get to the attic hatch.
